Simon produces development projects with new artists such as Black Country, New Road and F.O.X. He has also worked on several projects with Danny Boyle and Underworld: ‘Frankenstein’ at the National Theatre, the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony, and the films ‘Trance’ and ‘T2: Trainspotting’. Since then he has worked with a diverse range of artists including U2, New Order, Soul II Soul, No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, Massive Attack, Paloma Faith, Underworld, Athlete, Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, Gang of Four, King Creosote, Hotei and Mumiy Troll, and has had long standing partnerships with various music producers including Nellee Hooper, Stephen Hague, Sly & Robbie and Boilerhouse. He trained under John Hudson at London’s Mayfair studios, working on over 200 sessions in four years, including mixing the hit ‘Altogether Now’ by The Farm. Simon is a Grammy Award winning, multi-platinum mix engineer with over 30 years of top-level studio experience in music and film production. In his research, Matej investigates the impact of sound and music on the structure and perception of the visual narrative. Matej’s critical review of Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ features on the Reflections on "The Wall" 25th Anniversary Limited edition DVDs disk set, Art House Classics. Matej's selective credits include Absolute Beginners (Vol 1-4), Music Sales Eastern Biological: The Sound, audio-hybrid concept album and a mixed-media performance around the audience, Live at Union Chapel, London Out of Time, AV installation in collaboration with film director Marc Isaacs at the Open City Documentary Festival, South Bank, London. In addition to being the course leader of the Audio Production MA, his academic experience also includes a 5-year stretch at the American Intercontinental University, where he developed a number of audio and audio-visual courses for the Media Production and Visual Communication Departments. Matej has extensive academic and professional experience in several media disciplines, including music, sound design, film, TV, theatre, mixed media performance and graphic design.
